Affordable and Clean Energy

SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOAL 7

Sustainability has been at the heart of the Arab for a long time. In light of AAST goal of maintaining Clean and Affordable Energy for Everyone, the university put tremendous efforts each year towards green energy sustainability and analyzes energy usage and emissions insights to confirm its progress towards its long-term goal;

"By 2040: Boost the share of power generated by Renewables to 40% and Reduce green-house gases emissions by 50% 2040"

AASTMT Pathway to Green Sustainable Energy (2022/2023)

SDG7 Report (2022-2023)

2022/2023 AAST Slogan, for sdg7, is “Energy Transition for Sustainable Development” via four main sectors: “Energy Efficiecy, Energy Saving, Expansion in Renewables Employment and Carbon Emissions Reduction”. Serving these four sectors, the university acted firmly in the fields of research, training, infrastructures renovations and community service as well as support to governments and startups in order to guarantee its progress towards Green Energy Sustainability.

This also serves AAST measures and policies for sdg 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production) and sdg 13 (Climate Action) which are crosslinked with sdg7 achieving our national goal of Green Sustainability.

AASTMT Pathway to Green Energy (2021/2022)

SDG7 Report (2021/2022)

AASTMT ensures access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and clean energy for all as well as promoting for energy saving and management, emissions reduction and diversion towards renewable energy resources .

In accordance with AASTMT strategic plan and Policy of Energy Management and Environment, AASTMT's Energy Research unit and Energy Committee put forward several strategies to rationalize electrical consumption and reduce gas emissions .  This is achieved via promoting  green energy and energy conservation among AASTMT walls and beyond, renovating building  and establishing new ones that follow energy-efficiency standards, implementing new rooftop solar panels and redirecting from fossil-fuel grids towards renewable-energy ones, in addition to supporting green energy-related initiatives, research projects and startups. Finally, AASTMT is keen on developing further co-operation with government and public enterprises towards clean energy and  energy-efficient facilities to sustain serving the environment and surrounding community
