Goal 1. No Poverty
The Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport (AASTMT) is deeply committed to advancing the principles of Sustainable Development Goal 1 (No Poverty), which seeks to eradicate poverty in all its forms everywhere and to promote social inclusion, economic resilience, and equal access to opportunities. The Academy upholds the value of equitable and inclusive education for all student demographics, with particular emphasis on low-income, financially distressed, and vulnerable populations.
To achieve poverty reduction, social protection, and educational empowerment, AASTMT has established specific, measurable, and sustainable objectives that foster economic inclusion, human capital development, and social mobility. These objectives include:
The Student Support Department, under the Deanship of Student Affairs, systematically monitors, evaluates, and follows up on the progress of these students to ensure sustained enrollment, academic achievement, and social empowerment. Each case is assessed individually, allowing for full or partial financial assistance, complemented by moral, emotional, and institutional support from college deans, department heads, support teams, the Deanery of Admission and Registration, and the Deanery of Student Affairs.
Through these comprehensive anti-poverty programs, AASTMT actively contributes to the eradication of poverty, the reduction of inequalities, and the promotion of inclusive, equitable, and sustainable development. By empowering undergraduate and postgraduate students from poverty-affected and marginalized communities, the Academy strengthens social justice, enhances economic resilience, and advances the transformative vision of SDG 1 – ending poverty in all its dimensions through inclusive education and lifelong empowerment.
