The Arab Academy for Science, Technology, and Maritime Transport has established a policy aimed at ensuring equal employment opportunities for all its academic and non-academic staff, in line with Egyptian Labor Law Article 35. This policy aligns with SDG 8's objective of promoting sustained, inclusive, and sustainable economic growth, full and productive employment, and decent work for all. By committing to equal pay and non-discrimination, the Academy contributes to the broader effort of creating a fair and inclusive labor market where individuals are compensated fairly based on their qualifications and contributions, irrespective of gender or other characteristics. This promotes economic equality and decent work, which are key components of SDG 8's agenda for achieving sustainable development. The policy encompasses fair compensation practices that exceed government-mandated minimum wage rates and aims to eliminate pay discrimination, systematic bias, and gender-based pay disparities, ensuring that all employees are compensated equally for work of the same value, including salaries, bonuses, benefits, and more.
