Program Description

The program offers the degree of Bachelor of Pharmacy (Pharm D). The number of credit hours required for graduation is 177 (cr. hr.) spreading over 10 academic semesters in addition to a training academic year (9 months). The program contains a sequence of courses that are designed according to the National Academic Reference Standards (NARS) for Pharmacy education. The duration of the study in this program is divided on 10 semesters (5 years) according to the credit hour system and a full year of training in different training sites (5+1). In addition to field training constituting 100 hours in community, governmental and hospital pharmacies during the summer vacations by the end of the third level, besides passing a graduation project in one of the specializations available for registration. The on-site training program has been designed to prepare a pharmacist capable of providing pharmaceutical services with a professional skill in hospitals, public and private pharmacies, pharmaceutical factories and companies, drug control laboratories and food analysis, in addition to working in the field of media and drug packaging and participating effectively in scientific research through research centers and universities to serve the community. As well as taking into account the actual need of the labor market to allow the graduate to compete for job opportunities internally and externally and increase the opportunities available to work in the specialized pharmaceutical field.

Learning Outcomes

  • The main goals of the program are to: Graduate a distinguished, well qualified pharmacist capable of working in public and private pharmacies, pharmaceutical companies, drug control laboratories, food analysis and in the field of media, marketing, research and universities. Focus on the role of the pharmacist in providing appropriate health care to the patient inside and outside hospitals through educating and providing advice to individuals and communities to improve treatment outcomes and reduce disease incidence, taking into account that the pharmacist practices the profession with responsibility, respecting laws, ethics, and patient rights. Graduate a pharmacist who works as a lifelong learner with the aim of sustainable professional development. He. She be able to demonstrate the ability to perform self-evaluation skills, uses evidence-based data to provide contemporary pharmaceutical preparations and pharmaceutical services, in addition to having effective communication skills, leadership, management and entrepreneurship Increase the competitiveness of program graduates at the regional level through study and training programs and achieve quality standards in pharmacy education through interactive education and self-learning. Participate in community service, environmental development and provide a tangible economic outcome through rationalizing the use of drugs in hospitals.

Admission Requirements

Students must meet the following admission requirements: a. Completion of secondary education certificate or equivalent certificates according to the particular requirements of the college of Pharmacy as specified by the Supreme Council of Egyptian Universities. b. Meeting the minimum score required to join the college which is announced before the beginning of each semester, in light of the minimum score mandated by AASTMT, as well as the annually announced terms, regulations and qualifying courses per certificate as specified by the Supreme Council of Education Affairs. c. Being physically fit as per stipulated levels. d. Showing good conduct with no dishonoring judicial sentence issued against them. e. Submission of all required admission documents.

Tests & Prerequisites

Approval of delegating entities in case of student’s delegation from any country or authority. Passing admission exams determined by AASTMT. Pledging to follow AASTMT rules and regulations. The Academy may reject any student without stating reasons. Before the start of each semester (Fall – Spring), AASTMT shall determine the number of students that are to be accepted in the college of Pharmacy. Students are accepted according to admission policies set by the Supreme Council of Education Affairs, after passing admission exams and according to the terms specified prior to admission.

The two programs offered at College of Pharmacy (Bachelor of Pharmacy – Pharm D and Bachelor of Pharmacy Pharm D – Clinical Pharmacy) represent the first university degree in the field of pharmacy necessary to obtain a license to practice in all available pharmaceutical fields. The duration of study in the program is five academic years (over ten semesters) according to the credit-hour system, in addition to a one-year field training (9 months equivalent to 6 training modules) in different workplaces including clinical training courses, pharmacies, pharmaceutical manufacturing, marketing, research and development, pharmacovigilance, medical and pharmaceutical analysis, quality control and assurance, drug distribution and storage, and a graduation project course. In addition to the number of 100 hours of field training in private, governmental and hospital pharmacies, to be implemented during the summer vacations after the end of the third level..
