Laboratories

The program utilizes a number of well-equipped laboratories for instructions and research. Hands-on experience is highly emphasized throughout the program and ultra modern equipments serve the interests of both the students and staff. The laboratories serving the program are:

Hydraulic Laboratory.
Construction Surveying Laboratory.
Soil Mechanics Laboratory.
Construction Materials Laboratory.
Structural Mechanics Laboratory.

Other laboratories are used commonly by all engineering students :

III. SOIL MECHANICS LAB

LABORATORY INFORMATION
Lab name: Soil Mechanics Lab
Room no.: B-019
Capacity: 15 students.
Major Equipment
Preparation and reefing equipment for samples for testing.
Liquid and Plastic limit device.
Cone pentameter, and Pocket pentameter.
Electronic top loading balance.
Two set of series 200 and 300 mm diameter.
Long stem soil hydrometer, Sedimentation cylinder, and Thermometers.
250 C fan circulated oven.
Equipment for direct shear test: motorized direct shear apparatus, lever loading device, shear box assembly.
Equipment for one-dimensional consolidation: consolidation frame, dial gauge, consolidation cell.
Equipment for permeability of soil, constant head permeability cell, manometer tubes and stand, constant level tank, and measuring cylinder.
Equipment for dry density / moisture content: proctor mould , compaction rammer, straight edge, 200 mm sieve and receiver, semi-automatic balance.
Equipment for density of soil inplace, sand cone method : 6-in sand cone, plastic container, density plate, general purpose oven, field and laboratory scales, density spoon , sample container 10 dm3, rubber headed mallet, and density chisel.
