AASTMT President Participation in the Arab Digital Economy Forum

Within the activities of Expo 2020 Dubai in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) that is held in implementation of December 2021 decision of the Council of Arab Communications Ministers, and under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan - UAE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, and H.E Mr. Ahmed Aboul Gheit - Secretary General of the League of Arab States, and Chairman of the Higher Coordinating Committee for Arab Joint Action, H.E Prof. Dr. Ismail Abdel Ghafar Ismail Farag - President of the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport (AASTMT), headed a high-level official delegation participated in the Arab Digital Economy Forum that was held on Sunday 13- 2- 2022, on the sidelines of Expo 2020 Dubai.
H.E AASTMT President delivered a speech at the official opening session of the forum, with the participation of H.E Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi - UAE Minister of Foreign Trade, H.E Dr. Yassin Al Mahdi Walid - Minister of Emerging Enterprises and Knowledge Economy in the Republic of Algeria, and H.E Ambassador Hossam Zaki - Assistant Secretary General and General Commissioner of the League of Arab States for Expo 2020 Dubai, and H.E Dr. Ali Al-Khoury - President of the Arab Union Federation for Digital Economy, in addition to the presence of H.E Ambassadors of Arab countries in UAE and Ministries of communications senior officials of ministries of communications, artificial intelligence and digital transformation, Heads and Directors of joint Arab action organizations and institutions, League of Arab States delegation, and a group of AASTMT experts.
On the sidelines of the Arab Digital Economy Forum at Expo 2020, H.E AASTMT President , and H.E Dr. Ali Mohamed Al-Khoury - Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Arab Digital Economy Federation of the League of Arab States, signed a memorandum of understanding to enhance the role of the digital economy to achieve sustainable development.
It`s worth to mention that the Arab Federation for Digital Economy was established by the Arab Economic Unity Council of the Arab League in April 2018, as the Federation is tasked with ambitious goals to support and develop knowledge, infrastructure, regulatory, legislative and technical standards and frameworks throughout the Arab world in the areas of digital economy, that should in turn aid digital inclusion plans and sustainable development, mobilization of Arab and international capabilities to positively influence Arab societies, and uplift quality of life levels in the region.
