Data Science

Data science is inherently interdisciplinary. Working with data requires the mastery of a variety of skills and concepts, including many traditionally associated with the fields of statistics, computer science, and mathematics. Data science blends much of the pedagogical content from all three disciplines, but it is neither the simple intersection, nor the superset of the three. By applying the concepts needed from each discipline in the context of data, the program can be significantly streamlined and enhanced. The integration of courses, focused on data, is a fundamental feature of an effective Data Science program and results in a synergistic approach to problem solving. The Data science program offers four minor tracks which are Cyber Security, Modeling and Simulation, Bio-Computing, and Business Analytics. Students can declare one minor track from them along with their main major program.
