Higher FIATA Diploma in Supply Chain Management

The Higher FIATA Diploma in Supply Chain Management (HFDSCM) is a joint program between the College of International Transport and Logistics (CITL) through its logistics and supply chain management department and the Egyptian International Freight Forwarding & Logistics Association (EIFFLA).

 
What is FIATA?

The International Federation of Freight Forwarders Associations (FIATA) based in Zurich, Switzerland is the world umbrella body of the freight forwarding industry. FIATA offers a variety of well recognized certificates around the world.

 

Program Aim

The Higher FIATA Diploma in Supply Chain Management (HFDSCM) is an internationally recognized certificate that aims at providing candidates with a comprehensive coverage of the basic knowledge on supply chain management. 

 

Program Objectives

The HFDSCM would assist candidates in career advancements through state of the art materials and interactive lectures and workshops.

The HFDSCM program consists of a ive mix of modules that would offer candidates the theoretical knowledge in addition to the practical business experience.

 

Program Outline

The HFDSCM program is 245 hours, whereas each course is 35 hours.

To suit the schedule of candidates, classes will be held every other weekend (Friday and Saturday) from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm. The total duration of the program is nine months. Enrollment is available in Alexandria and Cairo. 

 

 Program Courses:

 *Supply Chain Management

This module aims to provide students with the necessary knowledge of supply chain management. This module will enable students to differentiate between logistics and supply chain management, to understand the various supply chain strategies and their applications to different business models. This module will also enable students to Apply trade-offs between cost and service, develop simple solutions to supply chain challenges in addition to identify security issues in supply chain management

 *International Transportation  Management

This module aims to provide students with the necessary knowledge on the role of trade and trade agreements on international transportation. Students will be able to differentiate between transportation modes, discuss the role of intermediaries in transportation and apply trade-offs in international transportation of global supply chains. Students will also use   simple   strategies   to choose   the optimal   transportation   mode including intermodal and multi-modal transportation, to appreciate transportation safety and security and their impact and to discuss the implications of DG and IMDG on transportation

 *Global Purchasing 

This module focuses on global purchasing where students will be able to summarize the role of global procurement management and understand    the    development    of    strategic    global    procurement organizational structure. Students will be able to devise strategies to appoint, evaluate, develop and maintain strategic suppliers, in addition to develop   strategies   to   adopt   world-class   management   information systems.

 *Financial Management

This module would enable students to understand the scope and role of financial management in meeting the organisation’s objectives. Students will be able to interpret financial   statements   to understand   the   financial   state   of organisations, compute working capital and its role in organisations and prepare business plan. Students will also be able to appraise and the most appropriate source of fund and understand    the   role   of   financial   management    in   organisational restructuring & growth. This module will help students capture the link between organisation financial management and supply chain management.

  *Contract Management

This module will enable students to understand the fundamentals & role of contracts in supply chains and appreciate contracts from a legal perspective. This module will also enable students to evaluate the effectiveness of a contract management team,    craft a contract management plan, define the role of Procurement in contract management and identify and alleviate risks in contracts.

 *Operations and Production

This module will enable students to define the role of production & operations management in supply chains, specifically to evaluate location planning and layout optimisation, capacity planning and production scheduling. Students will be able to understand product design and quality control, work standards and work measurement and to apply RAM knowledge to plant equipment maintenance.

 *Global Marketing

This module will enable students to understand the global marketing framework and how logistics operate within this framework.  Specifically, students will be able to differentiate between marketing driven, sales driven and product driven approaches in organizations, they will be able to apply the various research methods in marketing research, and craft simple market entry strategies. Students will also be able to differentiate between product and service marketing and to identify   and  analyse   segmentation   principles   and  develop   target marketing and positioning strategies.
