• is course introduces the discipline of anthropology through reflecting on the multicultural society that is becoming more connected. It aims at creating an understanding and respect of the cultural diversity of the world today and explore how the different parts of the society live differently through critically reflecting on the personal religion, views and culture. The course offers the chance to entertain different ideas from an anthropological perspective on why people dwell the way they do. It will further analyze how individuals relate to other cultures in the world and discuss the relations of power in the different societies. Special attention will be given to the rites of passage, gender, and power relations. The course will also introduce students to ethnographic research and observation as well as archaeological ethnography studies. Throughout the course there will be constant comparison between archaeology and anthropology..
