• is course aims at giving students and introduction to a complex evolving rare discipline. African archaeology now is an important part of the studying of the global archaeological studies. Africa provides archaeologists with the oldest material for interpretation as it is recognized now as the origin of modern humans and their cultural production. This course will provide also a study of later periods to understand the development of African culture and society. In addition, it will also focus on the interpretation of the archaeological record to better understand the ancient world. The course starts with pre-history until the age of European colonization chronologically and from the Mediterranean to South African geographically..
