• is course is composed of a two-hour lecture and one lab where they apply parts of what they see in practice. This introductory course in biology gives students of archaeology a generic understanding of the life of the plants and animals around them. It gives them also a tool to better understand the material culture of the past. The course aims at giving students an introduction to the basic concepts of biology, molecules of life, cell structure, cell cycle, biodiversity, and ecology. Students are also given the foundation of genetics and molecular biology needed for them to further investigate the archaeological record. The course also aims at giving the students the basis for scientific investigation and research through laboratory analysis and experiments..
