• is course is an introduction to the art, architecture, culture, religion, society, and history of the Ancient Egyptians. It also briefly discusses the history of discovering Egypt in the Western and Eastern sources and the development of Egyptology as a discipline. It touches briefly upon the language of Ancient Egypt and its different development phases. The course will also include a selected reading from the Ancient Egyptian literature. It also analyses briefly Ancient Egypt’s geopolitical position in the Ancient World and its relationship with its neighbours. Students also will know what the main references for the field of Egyptian Archaeology are as the Lexicon der Aegyptologie, Porter and Moss, etc., and how to use these different resources for research..
