MAIA-TAQA Certified Course  

The Future of Energy and Saving in Egypt workshop (8 March 2022)

Organized by the Energy Unit in AASTMT- College of Engineering and Technology. The workshop presented the role of AASTMT Energy Unit regarding research, consultancy and community service.

1- Establishing solar energy plants at the academy in the Alexandria and Aswan branches, with a total capacity of 200 KW;

2- Establishing an automated system to monitor loads in order to study consumption and make plans for rationalization;

3- Participate in preparing study programs (Bachelor’s and Master’s) and training in the field of renewable energy and management of energy systems and electricity networks;

4- Establishing a committee for energy management and rationalization at the level of the Academy in Alexandria in order to conduct studies and review designs for all new facilities and raise the efficiency of old facilities.

5- Managing a team that includes representatives of faculty members and students to prepare documents and initiatives in the field of energy and environment as one of the important criteria for classifying universities based on the sustainable development standards approved by the United Nations;

6- Participation in research projects funded locally and internationally that serve the academy and society in the field of energy conservation and efficiency raising.

Climate Protectors Initiative organized by AASTMT headquarters in Abikir Campus (27-28 Feb. 2022)

41 students from the Academy`s branches from Abu Qir, Wabour Al Mayah, Smart Village and Heliopolis participated in the event. The main purpose of the initiative was to:

1. Raise youth awareness about the importance of climate change issues and its impacts on the various sustainable development goals related to the environment (SDG 6, 7, 13, 15).
2. Learn some skills to reduce carbon footprint by changing some habits such as (reducing waste, reusing waste, reducing the use of plastic and non-biodegradable materials, as well as planting roofs and balconies).
3. Identifying jobs and green opportunities for work and development. To produce students Initiatives and ideas that contribute to their communities` response to climate change.

Organized by The Electrical & Control Engineering Department and focused on the current and future trends of solar energy market. The speaker was Prof. Ahmed Kadry Abdelsalam - a staff member in the Electrical & Control Engineering department- who is an expert in solar energy field in both academic and industrial levels.
