Supply Chain Management is the study of all processes involved in transporting raw materials from one stage to another until they reach the final consumer. Supply Chains are also referred to as value chains where there is a focus on creating value through all stages involved and eliminating waste. The creativity in Supply Chain Management lies in how to balance resource decisions and material sourcing, production scheduling and planning, transportation and physical supplies, material handling and storage, outbound logistics services, retail trade, with a focus on creating value from the customer's point of view. Supply Chain Management combines models related to production scheduling, transportation, storage, and inventory to obtain managerial decisions for the overall improvement of the supply chain. Graduate students in the Supply Chain Management Department have the opportunity to work in various industries, whether in the service sector or product manufacturing. Supply Chain Management has become a critical element in achieving optimal use of supply in exchange for demand to provide real opportunities to reduce overall costs, increase organizational competitiveness, and provide better customer service.
