Program Description

The PhD program offered by AASTMT aims to develop independent thinking, innovation and development capabilities, and to add new knowledge, through appropriate scientific and technical research methodologies. The program also aims to enhance research skills through theoretical and applied scientific research.

Learning Outcomes

  • By the time a student completes all requirements of the program, the student will be able to systematically review, analyze, assimilate and interpret the body of scientific literature and innovations in their discipline area. Apply and validate innovations and discoveries in the lab or real world settings in more efficient and effective ways. Produce high quality research. Disseminate effectively the research output in reputable international journals, conferences, patents, research proposals and other scientific venues. Solve real-world problems by integrating knowledge gained in courses and through independent study.

Markets and Career

  • The program is designed to develop outstanding scholars for careers in research and teaching at leading academic institutions throughout the world. It provides post-master’s applicants the opportunity to study in a broad range of areas, many of which overlap with other disciplines within the college and AAST.

Admission Requirements

The applicant must hold a M.Sc. degree in an engineering discipline from a university accredited from the Supreme Council of Egyptian Universities. The applicant must pass an interview held by the department.

Brief

The student must attend and pass 6 courses (18 credit-hours) from the Ph.D. courses (level ME8xx) consisting of 2 compulsory courses and 4 elective courses (Maximum two courses of the electives can be chosen from ME7xx level given that they were not previously studied and the rest from ME8xx level. This is in addition to a thesis (30 credit-hours)..
