Program Description

A student receives a PhD degree after successfully fulfilling all the degree requirements and achieving an overall grade point average (GPA) of at least 3.0.

A student should achieve 48 credit hours (12 credit hours for course work (4 courses), 6 credit hours for research hours, 3 credit hours for candidacy exam and 27 credit hours for dissertation).

Admission Requirements

An applicant to the Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Information Systems (IS) must hold a M.Sc. degree in a related Information Systems major from Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport, or from any of the corresponding recognized and accredited universities from the College of Computing and Information Technology or any of the corresponding colleges in the same major. The conditions for admission acceptance are: a. Applicants need to pass the PhD Admission Exam. b. Applicants have to provide a proof of English proficiency. The student has to pass TOEFL with a minimum score of 500 or IELTS with a minimum score of 5 from one of the accredited centers before graduation. c. Acquiring the acceptance of the department board, the CCIT board, and completing the required documents according to the rules and regulations. The department board will assign the student an academic advisor. d. The department board has the right to add any further conditions necessary for acceptance, and also has the right to limit the number of students to be enrolled according to the resources available.
