- Degree Master
- Area of study: Science and Engineering
- Duration: 4 Terms
- Credit hours: 36.00 hrs
The Department of Computer Engineering is a part of the College of Engineering and Technology, at the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport. It offers a program of study for its graduates who will engage in the professional practice of computer engineering as it relates to design, development, research, other engineering fields, and teaching in industry, government, or university.
It prepares students for advanced study and/or research and industry in the field of computer engineering. The Master of Science in Computer Engineering program builds a strong foundation in all aspects of the design and development of computer systems, with a specialization in a major area. Students pursue thesis research under the guidance of faculty advisers.
Upon completion of a Master of Science degree program in computer engineering, graduates are typically qualified for employment with government agencies, private product development companies and research facilities.
A Master of Science degree program in computer engineering generally focuses on the design and implementation of computer systems. Emphasis is often placed on investigating new ways to approach complex and dynamic computer systems and networking issues and creating greater efficiency in the digital world. Students can explore human-computer interaction, databases, VLSI system design, real-time systems, network security and computer-aided design, embedded and smart systems, in addition to taking courses in computer languages, programming and advanced software engineering.
In order to earn the Master of Science (M.Sc.) degree, students must achieve 24 credit hours of coursework plus a thesis equivalent to 12 credit hours (i.e. a total of 36 credit hours).
