Description
This course covers different systems of weights and measures required for compounding and dispensing of drugs in pharmacy practice. It is also concerned with all manufacturing formulations aspects, additives, packaging, storage, stability and quality control testing of liquid dosage forms including solutions (aqueous and non-aqueous), colloids, suspensions and emulsions with emphasis on the technology and pharmaceutical rationale fundamental to their design and development. The incompatibilities occurring during formulation are also considered. The course also defines preformulation and the main parameters as polymorphism, crystal size, shape and habit which will affect drug physical and chemical stability.
