Description

This course introduces the fundamental principles and techniques of statistical data analysis. It covers data collection, classification, organization, visualization, and descriptive statistical measures, including measures of central tendency and dispersion. The course also introduces probability, probability distributions, sampling, estimation, hypothesis testing, correlation, regression, and basic statistical modeling. Students will learn how to select appropriate statistical methods, analyze data, interpret results, and present findings using tables, graphs, and statistical software. Emphasis is placed on the practical application of statistical analysis to research, environmental, marine, business, and other professional fields. By the end of the course, students will be able to: Explain fundamental statistical concepts and terminology. Classify, organize, summarize, and visualize different types of data. Calculate and interpret descriptive statistical measures. Apply basic principles of probability and sampling. Select and apply appropriate statistical methods for different types of data. Conduct and interpret basic hypothesis tests. Analyze relationships between variables using correlation and regression techniques. Interpret statistical results and draw appropriate conclusions. Present and communicate statistical findings clearly using tables, graphs, and appropriate analytical tools.

To develop students’ ability to apply descriptive and inferential statistical methods to analyze data and support decision-making. To develop knowledge of probability, sampling, hypothesis testing, correlation, regression, and other basic statistical techniques. To enable students to select and apply appropriate statistical methods according to the type of data and research objectives. To develop students’ ability to interpret statistical results and communicate findings clearly and accurately.
