Description

This course introduces the principles and practices of multimodal transportation planning, focusing on the integration and coordination of different modes of transportation, including maritime, road, rail, air, and inland waterway transport. It covers transportation networks, intermodal terminals, freight and passenger movement, logistics, route planning, demand analysis, capacity planning, and network optimization. The course also examines sustainability, environmental impacts, infrastructure development, digitalization, and intelligent transportation systems. Particular emphasis is placed on improving connectivity, reducing transportation costs and emissions, and enhancing the efficiency of integrated transport systems. By the end of the course, students will be able to: Explain the fundamental principles and importance of multimodal transportation planning. Identify and compare the main transportation modes and their roles within integrated transport systems. Analyze transportation networks, intermodal connections, and logistics systems. Apply basic transportation planning and demand analysis methods. Evaluate factors affecting transportation efficiency, capacity, cost, and sustainability. Assess the environmental and economic impacts of different transportation alternatives. Develop integrated strategies for improving multimodal transportation and logistics systems. Apply sustainable and innovative approaches to transportation planning and management.
