This course introduces the fundamental principles and applications of numerical modeling and computational tools. It covers the formulation of mathematical models, numerical methods, simulation techniques, and the use of computational tools for solving scientific and environmental problems. Students will explore model development, data input and processing, calibration, validation, sensitivity analysis, uncertainty assessment, and visualization of model outputs. The course emphasizes the application of numerical models to analyze complex systems, simulate different scenarios, predict system behavior, and support research and decision-making. By the end of the course, students will be able to: Explain the fundamental principles and applications of numerical modeling. Formulate basic mathematical and numerical models for real-world problems. Apply appropriate computational tools for data analysis and numerical simulation. Develop and run basic numerical models. Analyze, visualize, and interpret model outputs. Apply model calibration and validation techniques. Assess model sensitivity and uncertainty. Evaluate the strengths and limitations of numerical models in scientific research and decision-making.
