Description

This course introduces the fundamental principles of meteorology and climate observation. It examines the structure and composition of the atmosphere, atmospheric processes, weather systems, and the main factors influencing climate. The course covers the observation and measurement of key meteorological variables, including temperature, pressure, humidity, wind, precipitation, and solar radiation. Students will also explore meteorological instruments, weather stations, remote sensing, satellite observations, and climate monitoring systems. Emphasis is placed on the collection, analysis, interpretation, and application of meteorological and climate data for weather forecasting, climate assessment, environmental monitoring, and climate change studies. By the end of the course, students will be able to: Explain the fundamental principles of meteorology and climate observation. Describe the structure and main processes of the Earth's atmosphere. Identify and measure key meteorological and climate variables. Describe the main instruments and technologies used for weather and climate observation. Collect, analyze, and interpret basic meteorological and climate data. Identify weather patterns and climatic trends using observational data. Apply meteorological and climate information to environmental monitoring and climate change assessment.
