Occupational Safety and Health for Blue Projects

Description

This course introduces the principles and practices of occupational safety and health (OSH) in projects related to the Blue Economy. It covers the identification and assessment of workplace hazards and risks associated with marine, coastal, offshore, port, fisheries, aquaculture, and other ocean-based activities. Topics include risk assessment, accident prevention, personal protective equipment, emergency preparedness, incident reporting, safety management systems, and relevant occupational safety and health regulations and standards. Emphasis is placed on developing a proactive safety culture and integrating health and safety considerations into the planning, implementation, and management of blue projects. By the end of the course, students will be able to: Explain the fundamental principles of occupational safety and health. Identify common hazards and risks associated with Blue Economy projects. Conduct basic workplace risk assessments. Recommend appropriate hazard prevention and control measures. Apply relevant safety procedures and the principles of safety management systems. Develop basic emergency preparedness and response plans. Analyze occupational incidents and identify measures for preventing their recurrence. Integrate occupational safety and health considerations into the planning and management of sustainable blue projects.
