Description

This course introduces the principles, methods, and applications of coastal environmental monitoring. It covers the assessment of key environmental parameters, including water quality, sediment characteristics, biodiversity, habitat conditions, pollution levels, and other physical, chemical, and biological indicators. Students will explore field sampling, laboratory analysis, environmental data collection, remote sensing, GIS, and modern monitoring technologies. The course also addresses data analysis, environmental indicators, early warning systems, and the use of monitoring results to support coastal protection, pollution control, ecosystem conservation, and sustainable coastal management. By the end of the course, students will be able to: Explain the principles and importance of coastal environmental monitoring. Identify key physical, chemical, and biological indicators used to assess coastal environments. Apply basic sampling and data collection techniques. Analyze and interpret environmental monitoring data. Use GIS, remote sensing, and other modern technologies in coastal monitoring applications. Identify environmental changes, pollution sources, and potential risks affecting coastal ecosystems. Evaluate monitoring results to support environmental management and decision-making. Propose appropriate monitoring strategies for the sustainable protection and management of coastal environments.

To enable students to identify environmental changes, pollution sources, and potential risks affecting coastal ecosystems. To develop the ability to analyze and interpret environmental data to support sustainable coastal management and decision-making.
