Description

This course examines the interrelationship between international trade, maritime transport, and shipbuilding. It introduces the role of maritime transport in global supply chains and international trade, covering major shipping systems, ports, logistics, shipping markets, and maritime stakeholders. The course also provides an overview of the shipbuilding industry, including ship design, construction processes, technological innovation, and emerging trends such as digitalization and green shipping. Particular emphasis is placed on sustainability, environmental challenges, and the role of maritime transport and shipbuilding in supporting the Blue Economy. By the end of the course, students will be able to: Explain the relationship between international trade and maritime transport. Describe the main components and stakeholders of the maritime transport and shipping industry. Analyze the role of maritime transport in global supply chains and economic development. Identify the fundamental stages and processes involved in shipbuilding. Assess current technological, economic, and environmental challenges facing the maritime transport and shipbuilding sectors. Evaluate sustainable and innovative approaches for improving the efficiency and environmental performance of maritime industries. Apply relevant concepts to analyze real-world issues related to trade, shipping, and shipbuilding.
