Description

This course introduces the relationship between the Blue Economy, innovation, and entrepreneurship. It examines how technological innovation, sustainable business models, and entrepreneurial initiatives can contribute to the development of ocean-based industries while supporting environmental sustainability. The course covers innovation ecosystems, entrepreneurship principles, business model development, financing opportunities, and the identification of emerging opportunities in sectors such as fisheries, aquaculture, marine biotechnology, renewable ocean energy, coastal tourism, and maritime services. By the end of the course, students will be able to: Explain the relationship between the Blue Economy, innovation, and entrepreneurship. Identify emerging business and innovation opportunities in ocean-based sectors. Apply creative and innovative approaches to address challenges in the Blue Economy. Develop sustainable business models and entrepreneurial concepts related to marine and coastal resources. Evaluate the economic, environmental, and social sustainability of Blue Economy ventures. Demonstrate the ability to design and present an innovative entrepreneurial idea or project within the Blue Economy.
