Description

This course provides an introduction to the fundamental concepts and principles of climate change. It examines the Earth's climate system, the greenhouse effect, and the natural and anthropogenic factors that contribute to changes in the global climate. The course explores the impacts of climate change on ecosystems, biodiversity, water resources, food security, human societies, coastal areas, and economic activities. It also introduces key approaches to climate change mitigation and adaptation, climate policy, international cooperation, and sustainable development. Particular emphasis is placed on understanding climate risks and developing appropriate strategies to enhance resilience and support sustainable development. By the end of the course, students will be able to: Explain the fundamental concepts and scientific principles of climate change. Identify the main natural and human-induced causes of climate change. Describe the major environmental, social, and economic impacts of climate change. Analyze the vulnerability of ecosystems and communities to climate-related risks. Differentiate between climate change mitigation and adaptation approaches. Evaluate strategies and policies aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions and enhancing climate resilience. Apply basic climate change concepts to analyze real-world environmental and sustainability challenges.
