This course focuses on the Introduction to thermodynamics concepts, first law of thermodynamics, Mass and energy balances in closed and open systems, volumetric properties of pure fluids, heat effects, humidity charts, second law of thermodynamics, entropy, Computer applications to thermodynamics problems.

Objectives

• Familiarize students with the first law of thermodynamics and its application to specific processes and systems. Provide detailed treatment of the ideal gas law. Develop skills in predicting real behaviour of gases and liquids based on equations of state and generalized correlations for gasses. Extend students ability to determine the properties of the moist air and solve heating and cooling problems through the utilization of the humidity charts. Develop an understanding of entropy and the second law of thermodynamics
