Description

This course provides the basic fundamentals to understand the main aspects of common electrical measurements in Smart Grids, the characteristics of used sensors, signal conditioning circuits, and noise and coherent interference mitigation. In addition, it discusses the basics on digital signal processing applied to Smart Grids measurements.

Objectives

  • The student will be able to: ▪ Know the importance of electrical measurements in the operation of Smart Grids. ▪ Interpret the measurements’ specifications and collect, among the technologies, the most suitable for the applications. ▪ Apply signal processing to voltage and current measurements to calculate power quality figures of merit. ▪ Perform the design of the data acquisition chain connecting with the power systems measurements standards.
