Knowledge and Understanding 1.1 Develop further skills in creative production and editing 1.2 Utilize their knowledge from previous courses to creatively work on different kind of dubbed and subtitled programmes 2. Intellectual Skills 2.1 Develop their personal style and creativeness 2.2 Develop self-critical abilities 2.3 Generate new creative ideas 2.4 To comprehend the aspects that regulate the process of translation for dubbing 3. Professional and Practical skills 3.1 To produce and record a subtitled version of the work, or translation, for dubbing that complies with professional protocols. 3.2 segment the translated text into takes, add the correct dubbing symbols, practice lip-syncing and emulate spontaneous dialogues in the translation 3.3 Use voiceover and dubbing tools and software 4. General and Transferable Skills 4.1 Discuss issues related to their work, explain and analyse the methodology used in order to reach the final visual result through oral presentations and written documentation. 4.2 Utilize library and online resources and relevant research tools to retrieve primary and secondary sources. 4.3 Generate and present critical work employing relevant production and audiovisual techniques 4.4 Apply house styles in dubbing projects appropriately 4.5 Develop the skills necessary for productive team work.

Objectives

  • This course is designed to develop further skills acquired from basic level of the production process to be applied on dubbed and subtitled programs. In addition to applying the concepts of Audio-visual Translation to the techniques of video production, which will Provide an opportunity to the students to create a variety of productions, allowing them to express personal creativity. Students will then learn about the technical issues that constrain dubbing and subtitling in terms of time and space and how to write scripts, shoot, edit their own projects on some of these categories and finally publish/upload them.
