Through knowledge and understanding, students will be able to: • Recognize the beginning and spread of Islam outside the Arabian Peninsula • Explain how early Islamic art and architecture began • Identify the beginning of Islamic cities. • Appreciate the Islamic architecture • Identify the Islamic art • Explain the Islamic calligraphy Through intellectual skills, students will be able to: • Explain the concepts of Islam from the cultural transformation • Classify the Islamic buildings monuments • Distinguish the characteristics of Islamic architecture • Make a distinction on the characteristics of Islamic arts • Explain the evolution of architecture and Islamic art across different periods • Observe Islamic architecture in different regions • Recognize the difference of Islamic art in different geographic regions Through professional and practical skills, students will be able to: • Use the information of Islamic archaeology in the field of cultural heritage • Describe the Islamic architecture briefly • Describe Islamic artefacts briefly Through general and transferable skills, students will be able to: • Provide accurate information on the subject matter • Work with colleagues on a presentation and understand teamwork dynamics • Discover the areas around him and encourage learning curiosity

Egyptian Archaeology

Objectives

  • This course aims at studying the Islamic archaeology in the world. It focuses on the Islamic culture beginnings in the Arabian Peninsula, and the cultural transformation that Islam has brought in the areas. The course further focuses on the study of Islamic monuments of art and architecture, including the influence of Islam in architecture, arts and foundations. It further explores Islamic art, urban architecture, religious, civil and military architecture, with some examples in Islamic world. The course also includes an overview of the Islamic arts such as ceramics, pottery, textiles, metal, wood and ivory as well as engraving and sculpture in stone and plaster as well as calligraphy through examples from international museums.
