Description

This course is about the use of modern statistical methods for quality control and improvement. It provides broad exposure ranging from basic principle of statistical process control to state-of-the art concepts and applications of statistical quality control. The aim of the course is to give students a sound understanding of the basis for applying these methods in a variety of managerial and industrial situations. A major objective of the course is to widen the use of these concepts in a six sigma application.

  • 1. Define and discuss quality, quality improvement, and different dimensions of quality in a variety of industrial settings. 2. Understand the basic SPC problem-solving tools. 3. Evaluate and interpret patterns and analysis of control charts. 4. Analyze process capability using control chart and histogram. 5. Explain how designed experiments be used to improve product design and process performance.
