Description

This course is part of the “Biological Sciences Cluster I”. It provides a broad anatomical background of the different organ systems of the human body. Students will be exposed to models of the skeleton and joints, cardiovascular, respiratory, digestive, urogenital, nervous and endocrine systems. Basic correlation/relevance of the structure and of each structure will be provided.

  • By the end of the course students will be able to: a. Knowledge and Understanding a.1. Identify the anatomical position and anatomical terms of the human body. a.2. Describe the different movements of the joints. a.3. Outline the main parts of the different body systems and the parts and relations of each organ. a.4. Describe the surface anatomy of organ and make a link with clinical practice. b. Intellectual Skills b.1. Classify the types of bones according to shape and structure. b.2. Differentiate between the relations of some paired organs in the body. c. Professional and Practical Skills c.1. Revise the surface anatomy of each organ. d. General and Transferable Skills d.1. Develop skills of independent learning as tested by writing an essay for different topics in anatomy. d.2. Communicate with colleagues and apply teamwork.
