Description

This course introduces the up-to-date approaches to management along with special distinctive emphasis on the managerial skills required to cope with today`s changing environment. The Course will cover the al aspects of management including planning, organizing, leading, decision making and budgeting. This course will also briefly introduce the pharmacist to principles of quality management and its implementation in any sphere of business for continuous improvement of processes underlying the production of goods and services, quality standards and benchmarking.

Objectives

  • By the end of the course students will be able to: a. Knowledge and Understanding a.1. Identify the key management functions (planning, organizing, leading and controlling) and the roles that managers play in organizations. a.2. Distinguish between business ethics from social responsibility towards different organizational stakeholders. a.3. Describe the external environments of business that affect the success or failure of them. a.4. Explain how managers plan for their organization’s human resource needs through different HR activities. a.5 Describe principles of quality management and its implementation in any sphere of business. b. Intellectual Skills b.1. Apply codes of ethics during planning, organizing, leading, decision making and budgeting for an organization. b.2. Appraise opportunities & threats that will impact management of an organization. b.3. Analyze the importance of strategic management and effective goal setting in organizational success. b.4. Analyze different forms of organizational structures and design. b.5. Distinguish different factors that are considered in operations planning through total quality management. c. Professional and Practical Skills c.1. Practice different managerial functions can be executed in a variety of circumstances using case studies. c.2. Experiment different concepts and principles from a range of management disciplines. c.3. Apply ethics, social responsibility and laws related to running business effectively. c.4. Practice planning operations, benchmarking and quality standards. c.5. Prepare a business plan. d. General and Transferable Skills d.1. Arrange priorities during decision making. d.2. Recognize the principles of Ergonomics (the process of designing and arranging workplaces) that facilitates the flow of work and ensures safety of workers. d.3. Propose solutions to manage distractions in the work environment
