Description

The course targets upper-intermediate students training for or would like to be employed in the tourism industry. It introduces reviews and extends the key language and communication skills needed in order to work effectively in this challenging international sector. The course includes a variety of practical and realistic output tasks that enable the students to practice the 4 language skills through activities and situations, associated with their careers. This course introduces students to both academic and occupational writing skills in relation to writing term papers and progress reports, as well as financial and feasibility reports. Particular attention is given to various formats, mechanics, and conventions of writing. Students are also required to present their written work in a formal fashion. It introduces students to air travel terminology and conversations related to its reservation. It presents the travel by sea and river cruises and ferries terminology and conversations related to its reservation. It tackles the travel by road or rail terminology and conversations related to its reservation. It states the terminology of tickets, reservation and insurance. It introduces dictionary skills.
