Objectives

  • Through an in-depth study of a novel, a play, a collection of poems and a collection of short stories, the students will be well acquainted with the major themes, ideas, trends and techniques of the American literature beginning by the end of the nineteenth century through the twentieth.

-The Scarlet Letter, by Nathaniel Hawthorne -Death of a Salesman by Arthur Miller -Williams, Oscar; Honig, Edwin (1962). The Mentor Book of Major American Poets -A Collection of Short stories by Ernest Hemingway and Edgar Allan Poe. -A collection of poems by various prominent American poets.
