Description

Apply the design thinking process to develop clear and targeted visual strategies for effective communication. Use visual design to communicate compelling ideas for innovative developments. Produce creative visual design solutions for specific cultural and social contexts. Create production-ready mock-ups for print and digital products. Employ the appropriate digital tools for each design solution. Discuss issues related to their work, explain and analyse the methodology used in order to reach the final visual result through oral presentations and written documentation. Utilize library and online resources and relevant research tools to retrieve primary and secondary sources. Generate and present critical work employing relevant research skills. Develop the necessary skills for making oral presentations. Develop the skills necessary for productive team work.

Objectives

  • Enable students to explore the value of design in the visual presentation of professional, academic, and scientific ideas and knowledge. Introduce students to the basic principles of design thinking for effective communication. Develop students’ ability to design for communicating ideas across different audiences (general public, specialists, administrators, clients). Encourage students to use the appropriate graphic language for the design of posters, websites, digital presentations, as well as printed and online publications. Introduce students to current digital tools that can be used to create successful visual messages.
