The course aims to establish baseline of information & awareness of the principles of seamanship forrncadets and provide the student with the ability & skills for the application of the main items of thernpractical seamanship. The course also provides background Knowledge of Types & Parts of ships –rnManning of merchant ships and fishing boat – Ropes & wires – Blocks & Tackles – Types & Parts ofrnderricks – Anchor & Cable – Load Line marks & Draft – Ship’s Maintenance – Ship’s Handling &rnSteering orders. The course based on all relevant IMO resolutions and guidelines available at the time,rnthe course was prepared by (IMO model course 7.03 and 1.34), to meet the mandatory requirementsrnfor knowledge, understanding and proficiency in Table A-II/1 of STCW F as amended, for Functionrn3: Controlling the Operation of the Ship and Care for Persons on Board at the Operational Level.
