The 16th General Cooperation Meeting between the Secretariats of the United Nations and the League of Arab States and their specialized entities

H.E. Prof. Dr. Ismail Abdel Ghafar Ismail - President of the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport (AASTMT) participated in the activities of the 16th General Cooperation Meeting between the Secretariats of the United Nations and the League of Arab States and their specialized entities. The meeting is taking place at the United Nations Office at Geneva from 17 - 19 July 2024, in the presence of H.E. Mr. Khaled Khiari - United Nations Assistant Secretary-General for the Middle East and Asia Pacific, and H.E. Mr. Khalil Ebrahim Al Thawadi - League of Arab States Assistant Secretary-General for Arab Affairs and National Security, in addition to high-level representatives from over 40 United Nations and League of Arab States agencies, funds, and programs.

The meeting aim to improve collaboration and partnership between the two parties in many crucial areas strengthening cooperation and partnership in many vital fields between the two parties, as they argue topics of shared interest in the Arab world, including those related to politics, the economy, and society. It is expected that the meeting will develop cooperative strategies and action plans that will improve Arab nations' ability to face present and future challenges, promote coordinated efforts towards sustainable development, and deepen relations between Arab and international organizations.
