PhD Programme in English for Specific Purposes at College of Language and Communication – Alexandria Headquarters

Under the patronage of His Excellency Professor Dr. Ismail Abdel Ghaffar Ismail Farag, President of the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport, Professor Abeer Refky, Dean of College of Language and Communication (CLC), and the supervision of Dr. Inas Hussein, Vice Dean for Postgraduate Studies and Scientific Research (CLC), Alexandria Headquarters, the Supreme Council of Egyptian Universities approved the start of study in the PhD programme in English for Specific Purposes at CLC, Alexandria Headquarters.

This programme is the first of its kind in Egypt and the Middle East. The programme meets the needs of students who hold a Master’s degree in English for Specific Purposes and Teaching English (TEFL/TESOL) or Linguistics/Applied Linguistics and wish to obtain a PhD degree in one of the fields of this specialization. The programme provides students with the opportunity to pursue research in several fields including teaching in the digital age, assessment, curriculum design, programme evaluation, learner psychology, the relationship between pragmatics and teaching and teacher training. The programme also gives the students the opportunity to focus on one of these areas in their dissertations. This qualifies students to obtain a PhD degree in English for Specific purposes, which is one of the recent fields with regard to teaching English language in public and private universities, whether inside or outside Egypt.
