This program is the first of its kind in Egypt and the Middle East, enabling students with a Master's degree in English for Specific Purposes and Teaching English (TEFL/TESOL) or Linguistics/Applied Linguistics to pursue a PhD in one of the areas of emphasis. Additionally, the program offers the chance to do research in a number of areas, including teaching in the digital age, assessment, curriculum design, program evaluation, learner psychology, the relationship between pragmatics and teaching and teacher training. Moreover, the program allows students to choose to concentrate on one of these subjects for their dissertations. This makes students eligible to pursue a PhD degree in English for Specific purposes that considered to be one of the more modern areas of teaching English language in public and private universities, whether inside or outside Egypt.
