Signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between AASTMT and the Shandong Educational Group

On Friday, July 12, His Excellency Dr. Ismail Abdel Ghaffar Ismail Farag, President of the Academy, made an official visit to the Shandong Ports Group, accompanied by Dr. Alaa Morsy, Dean Port Training Institute & Maritime Research & Consultation Center, and Dr. Abeer Murad, Director of Institutional Communication. This visit was a continuation of the cooperation between the Academy and the Port Training Institute, in response to a kind invitation from the Shandong Ports Group.

His Excellency was received by:

  • H.E. Mr. Han Enze, Deputy General Manager of SPG
  • H.E. Mr. Xu Guowang, Chairman of the Shandong Port Vocational Education Group and Party Secretary of Qingdao Harbour Vocational and Technical College.
  • H.E. Mr. Zhou Guanzhong, Vice President of Qingdao Harbour Vocational and Technical College.

The visit included a tour of the museum at the headquarters of the Shandong Ports Group, and a meeting with Mr. Han, Deputy General Manager of the Shandong Ports Group, which includes four ports in the People's Republic of China. Mr. Han presented the group's activities, which rank among the top ten ports globally in cargo handling, and discussed various aspects of cooperation between both parties in multiple fields.

During the meeting, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Arab Academy for Science, Technology, and Maritime Transport, represented by Prof, Ismail Abd El Ghaffar, and the Shandong Educational Group, represented by Mr. Xu Guowang. The memorandum aims to enhance the exchange of knowledge and experiences between the two sides through joint scientific programs and the exchange of lecturers and students, marking an important step in cooperation with the Chinese side.

The delegation also conducted several field visits to witness the latest intelligent facilities at Qingdao Port.

The meeting was attended by several officials from the group, and at the end of the meetings, gifts were exchanged, reaffirming the continuation of cooperation between both sides.
