Completion of basic maritime studies for a new batch of students from the College of Maritime Transport and Technology, batch (101) - Navigation and Marine Engineering

Today, Wednesday, 6/12/2024, the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport celebrated the completion of basic maritime studies for a new batch of students from the College of Maritime Transport and Technology, Batch (101) - Navigation and Marine Engineering, at the main stadium at the Academy’s headquarters in Abu Qir.
His Excellency Professor Dr. Ismail Abdel Ghaffar Ismail Farag, President of the Academy, said in a speech to the audience, “We are pleased and honored today to have all of you participate to celebrate together a new group of our graduates, the 101st batch, from the College of Maritime Transport and Technology, who have completed basic marine studies in the departments of basic marine studies and marine engineering technology. They have my sincere congratulations.” Heartfelt wishes and prayers for continued success and achievements
The President of the Academy also praised the role of all sectors in the Arab Academy for the achievements during the previous period, and he singled out the maritime sector for obtaining many international accreditations and activating many protocols and memorandums of cooperation with global entities in all fields. Among these accreditations are, for example, but not limited to:
. Renewal of the College of Maritime Transport and Technology’s accreditation from the Zeva Center for Evaluation and Accreditation of Academic Degrees in Germany for bachelor’s majors in maritime transport and marine engineering.
For another 6 years until July (2029). European Union accreditation of the College of Maritime Transport’s courses and programs within the independent evaluation file.
. The Egyptian Maritime Safety Authority accredits the maritime sector courses and programs and the bachelor’s programs granted by the college from: . Academic Accreditation Commission in the UAE - Ministry of Higher Education in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia - Ministry of Higher Education in Greece.
. Ministry of Higher Education in the Sultanate of Oman.The College of Maritime Transport and Technology also obtained the accreditation of the Supreme Council of Egyptian Universities for the two bachelor’s degrees in maritime transport technology and marine engineering, which are awarded by the college, with the bachelor’s degree awarded by Egyptian universities, as well as the accreditation of the master’s and doctoral degrees, which are awarded by the Institute of Maritime Postgraduate Studies, with the academic master’s degrees and doctorate of philosophy, which are awarded by Egyptian universities .
Al-Sayeh added, “I am pleased and honored to meet today on this occasion that we are all proud of, which is the completion ceremony of basic maritime studies for Batch (101) - Navigation and Marine Engineering for students of the College of Maritime Transport and Technology at the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport, as it celebrates the completion of (181) ) A male and female student from the college for the stage of completing basic maritime studies in the presence of a group of symbols of the maritime transport industry at the local, regional and international levels.
Al-Sayeh added that our presence today at this ceremony is the best evidence of appreciation for the great efforts made by everyone during the period of basic maritime studies, as we were keen to provide our students with the knowledge and skills necessary to work in various fields of maritime transport and technology, especially in light of the great challenges facing them. The maritime transport industry faces climate change and rapid technological developments, and the subsequent changes and developments in the business environment. We are confident that our students will be able to deal with these challenges effectively, thanks to the skills and experiences they have acquired during their studies. The College of Maritime Transport aims to: To be a leading international center of excellence that provides maritime education and training services by offering accredited programsConducting research and development work in line with the latest requirements of industrial revolutions and their technologies in the field of the maritime transport industry and related specializations, in accordance with the latest technological developments such as digital transformation, artificial intelligence applications, cybersecurity, self-piloted ships, and modern technology in the fifth and sixth generation ports of green and smart ports (Smart & Green ports). This is in accordance with the rules issued by the International Maritime Organization (IMO). In this context, I would like to point out the most recent successes achieved by the College of Maritime Transport and Technology under the support of His Excellency Professor Dr. / President of the Academy, in the field of education:The programs of the College of Maritime Transport and Technology have been accredited by the Supreme Council of Egyptian Universities and the Egyptian Authority for Maritime Safety, in addition to the accreditation of the College’s programs by a number of ministries of higher education in Arab countries such as the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, the Sultanate of Oman, the United Arab Emirates, and the Greek Ministry of Higher Education, as well as Accreditation of programs to the European Union and the International Maritime Organization (IMO).
The accreditation of the college’s programs was also renewed from the Center for Evaluation and Accreditation of Academic Degrees (ZEVA) in Hannover, GermanyWith regard to granting double degrees in cooperation with the most prestigious universities in the field of maritime transport, a cooperation agreement was signed with the Faculty of Marine Sciences at the German University of Applied Sciences (Hochschule) (Emden Leer) to grant double degrees in addition to providing a student exchange program and faculty exchange, with University, with the University of Pisa in Italy, and the University of Plymouth in the United Kingdom.
The college, through the maritime sector of the academy, was also honored to have taken the lead in implementing the GMP Body of Knowledge in cooperation with the International Association of Maritime Universities (IAMU).In conclusion, I would like to extend my sincere thanks and appreciation to the honorable audience for participating in reaping the fruits of what we have sown, which would not have been possible without the efforts of the faculty members at the College of Maritime Transport and Technology, the Maritime Sector and all the employees of the Academy and their dedication to providing science and knowledge to our students, in accordance with the latest Technologies until we have all reached this day, which is the starting point for our students to practically enter the world of maritime transport.
He said, “You have made strenuous efforts during your years of study, and have acquired the knowledge and skills necessary to work in the field of maritime transport, one of the most important and vital sectors in the world.”
