The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) Delegation at AASTMT

The Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport (AASTMT) welcomed the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR)) delegation, on Monday 10- 6- 2024, at AASTMT AbuKir Campus

During the Visit, UNHCR delegation met H.E. Prof. Dr. Ismail Abdel Ghafar Ismail Farag - AASTMT President, as to discuss the methods of enhancing cooperation, in the presence of AASTMT officials and academic staff members. H.E. AASTMT President and H.E. Dr. Hanan Hamdan - Representative of UNHCR in Egypt launched a joint initiative that entitled “The Bridge of Hope” that empower refugees through education. Under the initiative, AASTMT and UNHCR cooperate to provide scholarship opportunities to refugees to obtain a bachelor's degree.

The initiative’s launch ceremony was held in the presence of H.E. Consul Mazyad bin Muhammad Al-Huwaishan - Consul General of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in Alexandria, and representatives of the Department of Immigration and Internal Affairs, the European Commission, the Regional Office of the Commission in Cairo, the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation, the Embassy of Italy in Cairo, the French Development Agency in North... Africa, European Union Project, Egyptian Red Crescent Society, Regional Migration and Protection Program, Swiss Development Agency, European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.
