College of Engineering and Technology made a noteworthy contribution at the MEDPorts Association's yearly awaited forum

College of Engineering and Technology at the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport made a noteworthy contribution at the MEDPorts Association's yearly awaited forum held today May 31st, 2024, in Malta. The "MEDPorts Resilience in Today's Agitated Waters" forum focused on the challenges and opportunities facing Mediterranean ports in a dynamic global environment.

The College's Dean, Prof. Akram Soliman Elselmy, took the stage in Panel Two: "Alternative Fuels and OPS: Towards a New Reality in the Mediterranean." Prof. Akram’s presentation, titled "Powering the Future: Integrating Renewable Energy Solutions in Ports," offered an exploration of how ports can leverage renewable energy sources to ensure sustainability and resilience, showcasing two case studies from CET highlighting the role of research and innovation in achieving this goal.

The dean’s address comes at a critical stage, as concerns regarding environmental impact and energy security continue to mount. He presented a compelling case for integrating different sources of renewable energy solutions, highlighting the potential for significant environmental and economic benefits.
