The world celebrates International Women's Day in Maritime Transport on May 18
On this day, when we celebrate inspiring women in the maritime transport industry, all thanks and appreciation go to every woman who works on board ships, in ports, and in all specialties in this important and vital sector.
Today, the Kingdom of Bahrain celebrated the International Day of Women in the Maritime Sector, under the slogan (Safe Horizons: Women Shape the Future of Maritime Safety).
This comes in line with the adoption of the International Maritime Organization. The International Maritime Organization adopted the IMO in 2021.
“International Women in the Maritime Sector” Day is an annual event, which falls on the eighteenth of May of each year, and aims to exchange knowledge and experiences in the maritime sector, encourage gender equality and innovation, in addition to supporting education and training for women in the fields of maritime and navigation, and promoting Sustainable development in the maritime sector.

It is worth noting that the first celebration of International Women’s Day in the Maritime Sector was held at the headquarters of the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport in New Alamein City.
