Opening of "the Sustainable Future Investments in Ports and Free Economic Zones Workshop"

On Sunday, September 24, 2023, His Excellency Professor. Ismail Abd El Ghaffar Ismail Farag, President of the Arab Academy for Science, Technology, and Maritime Transport, opened via online from China a workshop in titled "Sustainable Future Investments in Ports and Free Economic Zones." The workshop was attended by Professor. Alaa Mahmoud Morsy, Dean of Port Training, and Rear Admiral Waleed Youssef Morsy, Deputy Chairman of the General Authority for the Suez Canal Economic Zone - Southern Region. The workshop, organized by Port Training Institute at the Arab Academy, is being conducted in physical attendance at Tolip Al Jalalah Hotel in Ain Sokhna from Sunday, September 24, to Wednesday, September 27, 2023and it includes participation of senior officials from ports and Arab authorizations from several Arab countries, including Yemen, Libya, Saudi Arabia, and Egypt, from the following entities:

  • Yemen Arabian Sea Ports Corporation - Port of Mukalla
  • Aden Ports Corporation - Yemen
  • Port of Mokha - Republic of Yemen
  • Libyan Iron and Steel Company
  • Free Zone in Misurata - Libya
  • Public Cargo and Container Terminal at King Fahd Industrial Port in Yanbu, Saudi Arabia
  • Suez Canal Economic Zone

The workshop features distinguished specialists in the field and includes practical training that involves field visits to modern investment projects in Ain Sokhna Port and the Suez Canal Economic Zone and it discusses topics such as:

  •  • Sustainable infrastructure for ports and its economic role in enhancing competitiveness.
  •  • Effective planning for optimal utilization of facilities in ports.
  • • Modern investments in logistics services in ports and economic zones.
  • • Developing management and planning strategies for ports and integrating them with economic zones.
  • • Resilience strategies and the quality of port services in crisis situations.
  • • The role of smart systems in improving port performance.

It worth mentioning that, this work shop is a part of the institute's efforts to enhance the skills of workers in Egyptian and Arab ports and provide them with the latest developments in the maritime transport industry.
