Opening Ceremony of ISPRS 2023 Geospatial Week (Egypt GSW 2023)

As keeping on the hosting of the Arab Academy for Science, Technology, and Maritime Transport (AASTMT) of the International Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ISPRS) first Geospatial Week (GSW) in Africa and Middle East (Egypt GSW`2023) that is held under the auspices of H.E. Secretary General of the League of Arab States, and with the patronage of H.E. Prof. Dr. Mostafa Madbouly - Prime Minister of Egypt, during the period from 2 – 7 September 2023, the opening ceremony of Egypt GSW`2023 was held on Saturday 2- 9- 2023, at the Intercontinental Semiramis Hotel, Cairo – Egypt.

The opening activities were attended by H.E. Prof. Dr. Ayman Ashour - Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, H.E. Prof. Dr. Naser El-Sheimy- President of the Conference, H.E. Prof. Dr. Ismail Abdel Ghafar Ismail Farag - AASTMT President, in addition to leaders from Egyptian research centers, the Egyptian General Survey Authority, the General Authority for Survey and Geospatial Information in Saudi Arabia, Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Centre, the National Telecom Regulatory Authority, the Egyptian Space Agency, the National Authority for Remote Sensing & Space Sciences, the Agriculture Bank of Egypt and Abu Qir Fertilizers Company.
It is worth to mention that Egypt GSW 2023 is hosting 29 workshops representing state-of-the-art and future trends in geospatial technologies, as more than 600 research papers will be presented by researchers from 68 countries, in addition to the scientific exhibition of the biggest local and international companies in this field. Moreover, GSW provides a platform for international scholars, graduate students, future scientists and industrial sector staff to learn, exchange knowledge and expertise regarding applying geospatial technologies for sustainable development to enhance the quality of life for people around the world.
