MAIA - TAQA ENI CBCMED project participation the 13th meeting of the Arab Committee for the Follow-up and Implementation of Sustainable Development Goals 2023

MAIA - TAQA ENI CBCMED project present at the “Regional Workshop in Artificial Intelligence - The 13th meeting of the Arab Committee for the Follow-up and Implementation of Sustainable Development Goals 2023” at AASTMT El Alamein Campus.

In light of the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport's (AASTMT) keenness on adhering to the goals of sustainable development, the activities of the regional workshop in Artificial Intelligence, titled "Modern Trends in Artificial Intelligence in Supporting Sustainable Development in the Arab Region" in addition to the activities of the 13th meeting of the Arab Committee for the Follow-up and Implementation of Sustainable Development Goals 2023 were held during the period from 11 - 12 June 2023, at AASTMT El Alamein Campus.
The activities were held in the presence of H.E. Ambassador Nada Al-Agizy - Department of Sustainable Development and International Cooperation at the League of Arab States’ Director and Prof. Dr. Alaa Abdel Bary - AASTMT Vice President for Postgraduate Studies and Scientific Research who delivered a speech on behalf of H.E. Prof. Dr. Ismail Abdel Ghafar Ismail Farag - AASTMT President, in addition to the participation of a group of AASTMT senior officials and delegations from Arab countries and Arab organizations. 
CITL- AASTMT team was present and highlighted the aims, objects and achievements of each the project. MAIA –TAQA aims at dealing with low efficiency supply issues that pressures the environment by setting up demonstrators in 3 Mediterranean pilot areas where innovative services were applied:  related to micro-grids, photovoltaics, energy storage, solar thermal technologies and water sanitation and purification.   MAIA –TAQA IOSS -  Innovation one-stop-shop center at AAST was presented. IOSS is an entity whose scope is to orient, support, manage incentives, aggregate, and promote innovation for business, by capitalizing and exporting the results and experience gained from the work developed in the three countries involved in the project. The idea of IOSS emerged due to lack of such centers aiming at providing start-ups and SMEs with the knowledge, technical assistance, consultancy, and networking opportunities required to run a successful innovative renewable energy business in Egypt.
