In line with the aim of fostering cooperation between PTI and MedPorts Association, and as part of strengthening collaboration with ports in the North and South of the Mediterranean, Prof. Alaa Mahmoud Morsy, the Dean of the Ports Training Institute of the Arab Academy for Science, Technology, and Maritime Transport, AASTMT attended  the General Assembly Meeting of the  MedPorts, held in Barcelona, Spain on Wednesday, June 7th, 2023. The meeting discussed the MedPorts activities during 2023 and established a roadmap for its activities in 2024. Furthermore, the restructuring of the association’s committees and their new regulations were also discussed during the meeting. In the same context, Prof. Alaa Morsy signed a partnership agreement with the Medports  to provide services and technical support through a technical support team that will assist the different committees within the association. The agreement also includes marketing initiatives for the Medports  in various ports and the organization of joint workshops and seminars. PTI' activities with the MEdPorts during the past year were presented, and future cooperation was discussed, as the institute continues to carry out its activities as a member of the Cooperation and Partnership Committee, which encompasses training and education in the maritime transport field.

Representatives from European ports in Italy, Slovenia, Malta, Spain, and France, as well as representatives from Arab ports in Lebanon, Tunisia, and Morocco, participated in the meetings. It is worth noting that the Ports Training Institute of the Arab Academy joined the MedPorts association since its establishment, and the institute strives to attend all events related to them, serving as a link between North Mediterranean ports, Egyptian ports, and South Mediterranean ports. The institute is considered a center of excellence for the association in the South of the Mediterranean
